Here are the details of our last debate tournament for the 2011-12 season. The tournament is at St. Paul Central High School. We will be leaving Cooper at 1:50 PM and then going to Armstrong by 2:00 PM. We will have four rounds of LD and three rounds of PF. We should be back on Friday around 9:30 PM. Saturday morning - for those who are still going strong - will be leaving at 7:00 AM. We will be home around 6:00 PM on Saturday. If you have questions, please do not hesitate in asking.
Congratulations to Armstrong Sophomore Andrew Urevig on his 2nd place finish at the 2012 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) State Debate Tournament. This was the first appearance for Armstrong High School at the State Debate Tournament. During the first six rounds of preliminary debate, Andrew finished with a 5-1 record to be the 3rd seed in elimination rounds. Andrew defeated Alex Gray from St. Francis High School in Quarter-Finals and Liz Weir from Visitation in Semi-Finals. In the final-round, Andrew came up just a little short being defeated by Ashesh Rambachan of Eastview High School. Andrew is only the second sophomore debater to compete in the MSHSL Debate Final-Round. Next week, Armstrong and Cooper High School go on to compete at the National Qualifier Tournament.
Here are the details of the 2012 State Debate Tournament to be held on the campus of the University of MN - Blegen Hall. We will be leaving Armstrong High School at 8:00 AM on Friday. Registration and meetings start early with round one on Friday scheduled to start promptly at 11:30 AM. We should be returning to Armstrong by 7:30 PM. Saturday morning we will be leaving at 7:00 AM with rounds starting promptly at 8:00 AM. Quarter-finals start at 10:45 AM with awards happening at 3:00 PM. We should be home around 3:30 PM on Saturday.
Robbinsdale Armstrong Sophomore Andrew Urevig fought through two days of debate to qualify for the 2012 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) State Tournament. The MSHSL State Tournament is the longest running state tournament, entering its 111th year. Andrew finished in 3rd place to earn his spot at next weekends State Debate Tournament. This is the first time in school history that Robbinsdale Armstrong has qualified a student to the MSHSL State Debate Tournament. "This is an unbelievable accomplishment for Armstrong Debate.
