Join us for our information meeting on Monday, September 12th in Room 220 at 2:30 PM. There you will get a chance to meet those on the team, learn about debate, our practice schedule and exactly what we do. Can't attend the information meeting. Don't worry, head over to http://armstrongdebate.com/jointheteam/ to learn more. Practice starts on Wednesday, September 14th.
The schedule for next year for practices will be the same cost as years past. Monday's and Wednesday's. We will try to get a new room that is connected-near one of the labs. Otherwise all is the same. Practices will run from 2:30 to 5:00 PM both days for returning students. Novice students will only go until 4:00 PM on Wednesdays. Coaching situation will be the same with one surprise but we will save that until the year starts.
Are you ready for the 2011-12 debate season? Did you know the new topic is released in just a little over 15 days? Well, it's time to get ready for next year. We will be holding our annual debate camp at Cooper High School starting august 22nd and running through August 24th. There is no cost for the camp again this year. Student simply need to bring a lunch or money for lunch. To register for the camp, please email DJ at email@example.com. Thanks and hopefully everyone can attend.
We will meet at Cooper on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be doing a ton of work. I am still trying to narrow down the exact times the building opens and closes but for now let's say 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM each day. We will be case writing, practice rounds and various other schools will be coming by to do practice rounds as well. DJ
Here are the details for this weekends tournament. A few things. Remember, the tournament is flighted which means you will have downtime between rounds - bring homework. Second, I know it's a late night/early start but its all worth it. Friday - Leave AHS at 1:15 PM. That means you need to be in the front of the building by the flagpole at 1:15. Does not mean you should leave class at 1:15 because that means we will leave without you. We will be returning to Armstrong around 10:00 PM. Saturday - Leave AHS at 7:10 AM. Return around 5:30 PM. The o'no moment is what happens if people break into elimination rounds. We will deal with that as it comes up and the coaches will have a plan for…
So we are nearly set on the tournament. I need to know if anyone else wants to help and not debate? I have Rosie, Hanna and Tom as helpers already. If there is anyone else, please let me know as I struggle with finding rooms. Good news is - almost 150 LD'ers this weekend. Largest LD tournament of the year! Thanks. Otherwise, helpers need to arrive by 7:30 AM and will be done 4:00 PM. Those debating, need to arrive by 8:15 AM and are at Armstrong until the cleaning is done. Thanks - DJ
